After an exciting week here at HQ, Lyfters everywhere hit the streets in record numbers to answer the call of our #WeekendChallenge: Show us the coolest destinations you've discovered while giving rides! Helen in San Francisco happened upon the General Frank M. Coxe, an old military vessel that carried 6 million passengers in its glory days. After a brief stint as a floating restaurant (locals remember it as The Sherman), the vacant hulk is now enjoying retirement in the picturesque bay.
On a night drive in Santa Barbara, Renee found these stylish signposts ...
...while Erica in San Diego toured a local brewery she'd never noticed before.
Community Gets Creative on 7-foot Logo
El DiscoLyft brought the #LyftLove to Oakland's First Friday art scene in the form of a giant woodcut Lyft logo. Festival-goers were invited to decorate the piece with light-sensitive paint blends, while SF's ChalkLyft provided an alternate canvas nearby. Check out the results:
Tuscon, Tampa Grow ’Staches
Friday marked the launch of Lyft Tampa, our first foray into Florida. Founding driver Isaiah gives us the full scoop in his sun-soaked launch report!
On the same day a few time zones away, Tucson won the hearts of locals with the second-largest Lyft launch yet* — and moments like these that made the Old Pueblo feel suddenly smaller:
My very first Lyft was this sweet young married couple. They were very nice but I couldn't help but notice that they were quietly whispering to each other in a very cryptic fashion. Being married myself, I just assumed they were chatting in a secret non-verbal way that most married couples do. Then the wife asks me what my last name is. Without a second thought, I casually answered her. Upon me answering, they both light up with amusement. For whatever reason, I didn't think this was strange at all. Turns out, this married couple knew my wife! They all went to college together. They thought I had looked familiar, probably from Facebook, but they weren't 100% sure. But here's the embarrassing part: I had actually met this couple along time ago at a bar with my wife. Oops! They didn't hold it against me though, after all, they forgot who I was too. Well, needless to say, they were an awesome couple and a great kick off to my whole Lyft experience! Yeah!
— James Alvarez, Lyft Tucson founding driver
*Lyft-story buffs will recall that that Twin Cities' launch in February was our largest to date. To be fair, though, it got a six-month head start with the launch of Lyft St. Paul.

If you see a vehicle in Tampa with a pink moustache, be nice and drive safely around them. They're @lyft drivers, on a mission.
