This story is brought to you by Janet, a driver and writer for the Creative Collective. A few nights ago, one of our drivers, Nena, was waiting in a parking lot for her next Lyft when she heard screaming. Across the street, she saw a woman in her early 20s shout, "So you are going to just leave me here?" before walking away from her male companion to sit at a bus stop.
Nena decided that she should help, so she took herself out of driver mode and offered the woman a free ride home. They spent the ride talking about what had happened, and Nena comforted her with words of encouragement.
There's something quite unique about Lyft drivers — they seem to think about others first. In this case, Nena was more concerned about the safety of this young lady than she was about getting another Lyft for herself. Although I don't know all the drivers in San Antonio, I believe many of us would have done the same.
Stories like this are not unusual for San Antonio Lyfters. We're proud to dedicate our time and talents to make the community a better place.
