This story is brought to you by Lindsay, a driver and writer. When I first started driving for Lyft, I was worried I wouldn’t be able to relate with my passengers. What if they had different interests and we couldn’t find anything to talk about?
After driving for a few months, I've learned I have at least three things in common with almost every person who enters my car: We live in Los Angeles, we go on lots of dates, and we LOVE talking about it. When you talk to people about their dating lives, they come alive. Even passengers who initially seems quiet will not stop talking when you get a conversation going about dating.
I recently asked some of my passengers where they like to go on dates, and I had the pleasure of meeting a funny, down-to-earth girl named Karina.
She told me about her last awkward date – a guy who had some major road rage issues – and we decided a good first date for her would be somewhere that matched her laid-back vibe, like the Happy Ending Bar and Restaurant on Sunset Boulevard. It has a pool table, which is perfect for hanging out and getting to know someone better. Plus, there are always plenty of Lyfts in this area so Karina doesn’t have to worry about her date’s road rage!
Whether I'm in the driver or passenger seat, my favorite Lyft rides are the ones where the conversation ends up revolving around dating.
