LA driver Michael McGehee started playing guitar at 11 years old, stealing away for secret jam sessions on his father's coveted acoustic – "coveted" because it was autographed by Paul McCartney. Dad wasn't too pleased to discover the Beatle's signature fading, but he encouraged his son's passion for music nonetheless.
Now 25, Michael's come a long way since those days of surreptitious strumming. Check out his collaboration with fellow LA driver and mentor Clifton Burns Jr.
Originally from Louisiana, Michael moved to LA in early 2014 to pursue his dream of becoming a professional musician. His first few months in SoCal have been busy: He's played over 15 shows, established a weekly YouTube series, and begun composing music for film in his studio, Beverly Hits.
Michael credits Lyft with giving him the boost he needed to follow his passion. "Moving to Los Angeles four months ago would have been daunting without Lyft," says Michael. "Driving and mentoring with Lyft has given me the comfort to pursue my dream in music – both as a means of financial stability, and as a community of love and support."
