This perspective is brought to you by Lyft driver Peter. As a stay-at-home dad, it's not easy finding an income source that's flexible with my schedule.
When I saw a Facebook ad for Lyft, I didn’t know exactly what it was, but it looked like something I could do. My father had been a taxi driver for over 30 years in Chicago, and this couldn't be any different, right?
Well, that’s when the pink mustache arrived on my doorstep. I was so hesitant to put it on my car that I hid it in my bedroom.
Shortly after receiving my ’stache, I went to the Minneapolis launch party, and when I got home something amazing happened: My kids had dug into the Lyft party goodie bag and were having a hilarious time with the little pink mustaches.
It was a significant moment in my journey – I knew Lyft was going to work for me for in the long-term.
This is why I strive to meet new drivers I see on the app, especially the ones who haven’t earned their pink mustache yet. I know if they get support from their local driver community, they're likely to stay around longer.
When I see a driver on the map that I don't recognize, I’ll approach them with my pink mustache on my car. I’ll show them I’m in driver mode like they are, spend a few minutes connecting with them, and invite them to the next driver meetup.
So, if you’ve been hesitant to wear the pink mustache, now is the time to embrace it and use it to keep our driver community strong.
Happy Lyfting, friends!
