Who is Harry? A retired Indianapolis firefighter and active Lyft driver, Harry asserts, "I love keeping busy!" Celeste, his wife, often jokes with him that he will never truly retire. When he saw an ad for Lyft in 2013, it seemed to be a fun and flexible way to make money. "I can do this!" he thought.
I Ain't Afraid of No 'Stache
Harry vividly recalls the day he received his mustache. “I saw how big and pink it was. I wondered if I was secure enough in my manhood to wear it, but when I realized how much money it was going to put in my pocket, I put it on my van and never looked back!”
Raising the Bar
Gossimer, Harry’s van, is stocked with a stunning assortment of snacks and beverages. Gossimer and his googly-eyed mustache are recognizable passenger favorites. “When I’m driving, people often say, 'There’s Gossimer!'” he laughs.
Let it Rain
Harry enjoys sharing tips with his fellow Lyft drivers. “Helping drivers doesn't take anything away from me,” he says. “It only helps the community grow.” He encourages persistence during slow times. “Tough times don’t last; tough people do. If you’re casual about your work, you become a casualty.” He advises drivers to be safe and also, “Bad weather spells good money, so let it rain.”
Scratching the Surface
Providing the ultimate passenger experience is Harry’s top priority. “We've only scratched the surface of Lyft’s potential. If we treat our passengers like family, they will respond to that. Every driver can do it.”
Last week, Harry gave Lyft ride number 2,000. “I’m the Lyft driver every other Lyft driver wants to be when they grow up,” Harry jokes.
Thank you for setting lofty goals, and congratulations Harry!
