It’s hard to say what drew me to Lyft initially — a mix of frustration with taxis and a need for more income — but a year later my life has changed for the better. Here's a look at what I've gained since joining the Charlotte driver community one year ago.
Thanks to my Lyft income, I've completed various projects on my house, adding a new deck and renovating my bathrooms. I've also been able to take vacations, visiting Seychelles last year and both Amsterdam and Belgium this year.
It may sound cliché, but I've made meaningful connections through Lyft. My fellow drivers in Charlotte have become great friends. It began when we met at driver socials, and now I hang out with many of them outside of Lyft. Recently, I even started dating another Lyft driver.
New Skill Development
I was never much of a marketer, but I know the city well and have been successful as a Driver Marketing Coordinator. I've developed more skills in my year as a Lyft driver than I have in any previous job, and found plenty of opportunities to put those skills to use.
In my short time as a driver, I've watched Lyft grow from under 20 cities to more than 60. Each new city brings opportunities to make friends, and for other people to change their lives for the better.
