At my first driver social, I met other drivers who were donating a portion of their income to charities. I loved that idea! As a retired naval officer with 20 years of service, I couldn't think of a better organization to donate to than TADSAW: Train a Dog — Save a Warrior.
TADSAW trains dogs for military members — active duty, retired, and veterans — who have PTSD. All of TADSAW's services are provided for free, so the organization runs on donations.
The dogs are trained for a specific person's needs, from waking their owner from a nightmare to reminding them to take medications. Training takes several months, which is one of the reasons why there's a long waiting list.
We're currently in the process of training my dog, Sienna.
I'd like to thank Lyft for helping me earn extra income that allows me to donate 100% of my tips and $5 from each mentoring session to TADSAW. I'm also especially grateful to TADSAW for training my battle buddy, who makes my days tolerable so I can drive. We are a team, and rely on each other like best friends.
