Kindness is a vital force in the Lyft driver community, and it shows every day through your empathy and warm smiles, shared snacks and safe rides. We’ve been humbled to watch your generosity spread from the car to the greater community, through driver-powered efforts nationwide. Together, you've collected food for the hungry, lovingly assembled care packages for the homeless, and lifted the spirits of the elderly while driving them to medical appointments. We noticed a grassroots volunteer network forming through these acts of public service, and it was a natural next step for us to create a program to support it.
Today, we’re proud to introduce Lyft for Good, a nationwide initiative that empowers you to get involved. Submit an idea that will better your city, or ask a fellow community member to submit theirs, and Lyft will help you make that idea come to fruition.
Low-income seniors in SF will be the first to benefit from Lyft for Good, when drivers partner with Meals on Wheels later this week to deliver disaster preparedness kits to their doorsteps. And starting on Friday, founding drivers in Salt Lake City and St. Louis will kick off a new tradition of picking a local charity to support in matching donations opening weekend. As our movement spreads across the nation, we’re excited to lay the groundwork with these acts of volunteerism.
By the end of 2014, our goal is to work with drivers to power at least 100 Lyft for Good community initiatives. We can’t wait to hear about yours!
