From celebrity appearances to new partnerships, new features, and new airport launches, newscasters across the nation were buzzing with excitement this month — and it’s all thanks to you. See why they couldn’t stop talking, and remember: the more headlines they publish, the more passengers you get.
A Very Sweet (20)16
Co-founder John Zimmer spoke to Lyft’s notable growth at the Connect Car Expo in Los Angeles, noting that we’re on track to make $1 billion in gross annual revenue by November 2016. As he told Fast Company, he’s confident conventional car ownership won’t exist by the time his infant daughter is 16 — which is why he isn’t going to teach her how to drive.
Bieber Nation = More New Passengers
Billboard covered our biggest celebrity partnership yet, during which Justin Bieber offered Lyft passengers the opportunity to download his new album before anyone else. Beliebers all over the country were thrilled, to say the least. Fortune noted that he even surprised passengers in the Tri-State area (cue “What Do You Mean” dance party).
Rethinking Holiday Travel
If you’re traveling this holiday season, you’ll be happy to know Lyft has landed at Chicago, Vegas and Louisville airports. Plus, Lyft Line launched in DC (translation: we’re reducing time between requests to help grow your bottom line). If you’re going to San Francisco anytime soon, Journeys is one of our newest partners trying to make your stay one to remember, including a Lyft ride from the airport.
Speaking of partners, there are a lot of good ones on the horizon, including benefits provider Honest Dollar (hello, retirement).
On Veteran’s Day, we announced a partnership with the White House: As a small thank you for their service, we offered free rides to veterans. On another feel-good note, Lyft was named an essential app for anyone’s first week on the job, so you could really make someone’s first day (and second… and third…).
Finally, Lyft was dubbed the Best Taxi Alternative by OC Weekly. We think we can land that title in every city across the country. You game?
