The Lyft app is morphing into a new shape: a floating widget. You can have Lyft within a finger’s reach no matter what’s filling your screen, making it even more convenient to give rides.
Here’s how it works. Your Lyft app runs in the background, while the small widget floats in the foreground. This frees up your phone’s availability to play Sudoku (or skim The Hub) while waiting for a request.
Quickly access features without opening the app:
Switch in and out of driver mode.
Receive a ride request.
Remove the widget.
Once you get a request, the app will automatically reclaim your full screen so you can accept.
The widget has now been introduced to Android drivers nationwide. Stay tuned for more features like this to arrive on a phone near you.
