Pulling over safely and legally is an essential part of every ride. Keep passengers out of harm’s way — and protect yourself against expensive citations — by following these tips.
- Avoid illegal zones. This includes bus stops, taxi zones, and red or yellow curbs.
- Pull over to the curb. Double parking or stopping in the middle of your lane puts passengers in danger.
- Respect cyclists. That means staying out of bike lanes, and checking for bikers before opening doors.
It’s always best to arrive directly in front of your passenger, but if they’re in a busy or unsafe spot, use your best judgement. Making a phone call is always smarter than risking an accident or ticket.
