The only thing standing in between you and Lyft’s newest features? Your phone.
To use the next Lyft app update's newest features, iPhone users need to have iOS 9, the latest Apple operating system. As a heads-up, not all iPhones can use iOS 9. Drivers with an iPhone 4 or older will need a newer phone.
How to Check Your Software Version
If you have an iPhone 4S or newer, you’re probably already using iOS 9.
- Tap ‘Settings’ from your iPhone’s home screen
- Select ‘General’
- Choose ‘About’
The number next to ‘Version’ is what we’re looking for. As long as it starts with an 9, you’re good to go — it’s normally followed by a period and a number, like 9.1.3 or 9.2.
How to Update to iOS 9
It's as easy as one, two, three.
- Connect your iPhone to wifi and a power source.
- From your home screen, tap ‘Settings,’ then ‘General,’ then ‘Software Update.’
- Select ‘Install Now.’
Run Into a Problem? Out of Space?
To install iOS 9, you’ll need to have a good amount of free space in your phone’s memory. This is a common hurdle, so Apple Support already has a few solutions prepared for you. Read their tips, and reach out to your local Apple store for in-person help if needed.
