Our momentum isn’t stopping anytime soon: Since partnering with major players like General Motors, public transit systems, and celebrities, we’re continuing to see your incredible rides play out in global headlines. Read on for the latest.
What’s the Biggest Risk You’ve Taken?
When we heard from him last, NBC reporter Anthony Ponce had quit his job to drive with Lyft and create a podcast detailing the experience. The first episode just hit the airwaves, centered around taking risks. Make sure to subscribe: A new segment will be posted every Wednesday.
Chevy Bolt’s First Driver: You
As part of our partnership with General Motors, Lyft drivers will be the first to receive the new Chevrolet Bolt electric vehicle. The plug-in vehicle can travel long distances on a single charge, just like a Tesla Model S — but at half the cost.
Expanding Our Support Team in Nashville
Tennessee-elected officials, Metro leaders, and our own co-founders celebrated the grand opening of our Nashville office last week. Consider it more of a re-opening: Since planting our roots in Nashville almost three years ago, we’ve grown to nearly 400 employees, with over 100 expected to join this year. It’s part of our commitment to growing our teams that help drivers.
Growing the Lyft Community
We’ve been launching a ton of partnerships lately, especially with public transit. (The latest brings subsidized rides and shorter wait times to Bostonians with disabilities.) We’ve also teamed up with Budweiser in their #GiveADamn campaign, committing free rides to help reduce drunk driving on weekend nights, and a handful of health systems to help patients get to their medical appointments.
Meeting the Mustache Man
Lyft’s beginnings are rooted in the Carstache, a 3-foot-long fuzzy mustache affixed to the front of our earliest drivers’ cars. You can now meet Ethan, its creator — and the man behind our next dashboard icon, coming soon.
Celebs in the Driver’s Seat
Our Undercover Lyft series has put nearly a billion potential passengers’ eyes on Lyft. It’s one way we’re focused on bringing you more rides, with the latest starring Demi Lovato and the now-retired Big Papi. And our past Undercover Lyft videos are still working hard for us: Shaq’s video is one of the 10 most-watched ads on YouTube, a solid sign that our marketing is working.
Sharing Our Vision
Lyft Co-Founder and President John Zimmer detailed the company's vision for the future in a Medium post, explaining the journey towards autonomous vehicles. It’s not a straight path: In order to ramp up for autonomous vehicles, we’ll need to grow our people-powered fleet first (that’s you).
