For sisters LaLonnie, Letty, and Lorenza, sharing the road means something extra special. All three sisters (the “Three Ls,” as they call themselves) are veterans and Lyft drivers. Even though they live in three far-apart cities, their shared experiences have brought them closer than ever.
Lorenza, the first of the sisters to become a Lyft driver, lives in Dallas. She signed up to drive while she was in-between jobs and needed to help support her family. Lorenza loves setting her own hours, and when she’s not on the road, she is an active member in a women’s group at her church.
Letty, the second sister to become a Lyft driver, signed up soon after she realized how significant Lorenza’s earnings were. She lives in Charleston, South Carolina, and drives to cover expenses and purchase a home. When she’s not connecting with passengers, Letty has a full-time job and serves as a resident actress in a local theater company.
Finally, the rebel of the family came around, too. Newly single, in a new city, and looking for a little extra cash to cover childcare costs, LaLonnie joined the Lyft driver community. She learns about her new city, Las Vegas, through her passengers when she’s not working at her full-time job or volunteering with her daughter’s choir organization. LaLonnie sets financial goals for herself on a weekly basis, and uses most of her extra cash to cover before and after school care for her daughter, as well as small treats, like meals out.
Some of LaLonnie’s 5-star feedback includes:
Very clean and comfortable experience. The car had an amazingly soothing aroma and temperature. The driver was super nice and knowledgeable of the route. Thank you!
Very nice really helpful in my time of need... really need more people like in the world thank you so much.
Driving with Lyft isn’t the first experience the sisters have shared; all three have completed Military service, following in the footsteps of their grandfather, who served in the Army during WWII, and their father, who served in the Navy. LaLonnie was the first to serve when she joined the Army, and Lorenza andLetty followed soon after, serving in the Marines and Airforce.
Lyft has not only helped the three sisters grow closer but has also allowed them to contribute to family events. They have collectively earned and saved thousands of dollars, of which a portion is earmarked for their mother’s 80th birthday party this summer.
We are so thrilled that driving for Lyft empowers Lorenza, Letty, and LaLonnie to choose their own paths, accomplish their goals, and do something extra for their mom. Thank you, ladies, for including Lyft in your journey!
