Destination Mode: Make Money on Every Mile

Friends riding home in a Lyft Lux

With Destination Mode, you can now specify where you're headed after your last ride. You'll only get matched with requests along your route — and keep the earnings coming, too.

How It Works

Priority matching. Once you’ve added a destination, you’ll only get matched with passengers along your route, going in your direction.

More ride types. You can get matched with passengers requesting Line or original Lyft rides, as long as the passenger has a destination entered too.

Flexible use. Tap the ‘x’ next to your destination’s address to return to normal driver mode. Note that Destination Mode rides still count towards your acceptance rate, but not Average Hourly Guarantees or the Power Driver Bonus.

Sound Familiar?

We originally launched the feature last year for Line rides only. Along with a more sophisticated matching system, we’re excited to unveil Destination Mode for both original and Line rides nationwide — offering better matches, more frequently.

Keep in mind that Destination Mode acts as a filter. You’ll have a high chance of getting matched, but should still expect fewer ride requests than usual.

Setting Your Destination

  1. Tap the arrow in the top-right corner of the app.

  2. Select ‘Add Destination Mode.’

  3. Add your own destination, and start driving there. We’ll alert you if you’re matched along the way.

It’s more than a convenient option — it’s a way to earn on every mile you drive, whether you’re about to pick up the kids from school or tuck in for the night.
