Passengers often tell us they’d tap ‘Request’ more if they knew the price ahead of time. So we’re testing a new feature: Passengers will now see a confirmed, upfront price for each ride. Because they’ll have transparency about the cost, passengers will be that much more likely to request. And it won’t have any effect on how — or how much — you’re paid.
We’ve Got Your Back
Here’s the thing: nothing’s changing for you. You'll still get paid for time and distance, plus Prime Time. Even if a ride takes longer than we quoted the passenger, or they added a stop, we've got you covered. If you need it, we have a handy breakdown of how your pay is calculated.
You'll Enjoy Smoother Rides
This new feature creates a more seamless experience for both you and your passenger:
To see their price up front, passengers must confirm their destination before requesting a ride (so you won't have to wait for them to find the right address once they're in your car).
When a passenger needs to change plans, they have flexibility: If they need to update their destination, either one of you can update it in the app. We'll automatically switch them back to the time and distance pricing they’re used to.
As always, let us know if you have any questions or thoughts. Here’s to more rides and a smoother Lyft experience.
