Chicago City Tax Emblem FAQs 

 

What is the City Tax Emblem?

The City of Chicago requires all Lyft drivers to display their annual City Tax Emblem on their front windshield at all times while in driver mode.

*Each car you drive with Lyft will need its own, unique City Tax Emblem.*

Failure to display your City Tax Emblem while completing ride requests may result in citations up to $2,000.

 

Where can I access my City Tax Emblem?  

You can access it through the email account that you used to sign up for Lyft.

  • Look for an email from Lyft with the subject line:“Action Required-Print & Display Your City Tax Emblem.” This email contains a link to your City Tax Emblem for your approved car.

or

  • Look for an email from the City of Chicago (email address cserv@cityofchicago.org). This email contains a link to your City Tax Emblem for your approved car.

 

Don’t have an email from Lyft or the City of Chicago?                

  • Go into driver mode. Shortly after logging in you will receive an email from Lyft and the City of Chicago (email address cserv@cityofchicago.org) with your new City Tax Emblem .

  • Visit our Chicago Hub in-person, or contact our support team. A support representative can email you the City Tax Emblem for your vehicle(s).

 

When does my annual City Tax Emblem expire?

Your City Tax Emblem expires every year on June 30th. This means you need to print and display a new City Tax Emblem by June 30th every year.

 

Where does my City Tax Emblem go?

You must display your City Tax Emblem on the passenger side under your Lyft Emblem. See picture below:
