Detroit Drivers: Earn More at the Auto Show

This Friday, Jan. 13, is the North American International Auto Show Charity Preview. Held downtown at Cobo Center, it's one of the biggest parties of the year in Metro Detroit. Expect earnings to spike from 5pm-10pm as hundreds of riders look for your Lyfts. To help you pick up and drop off passengers smoothly, we’ve teamed up with the event organizers to put together this guide.

Use the designated pickup and drop-off location.

From 4 PM Friday through early Saturday morning, all pickups and drop-offs at Cobo Center should take place on Congress Street between 1st Street and Cass Avenue. You'll need to travel down 1st Street to reach Cobo Center.

Navigate through security.

To keep our roads safe, local officials are enforcing a security barricade at 1st and Fort Street. Simply show your Lyft app (not your navigation app) to the guards to get through — they’ll just need to see that you’re picking up or dropping off a Lyft passenger.

Know your road closures.

We’re expecting streets to be blocked off in the area around Cobo Center, so make sure not to stage in its vicinity. Instead, try parking close to Comerica Park on East Montcalm Street between Witherell and Brush Street.

Call ahead.

On your way to pick up at Cobo Center? Let your passenger know! That way, even if you run into traffic, they’ll know you’re on your way — and if they’re in a crowded spot, you can also coordinate the best spot to meet.

Thanks for making this night a safe and reliable one for Charity Preview attendees.
