Silicon Valley drivers are no strangers to giving back. After donating dozens of toys for a local radio station’s Toys For Tots drive, another group joined together to make Lyft For Good backpacks to deliver to the local homeless shelter.
Together they filled 34 four backpacks — complete with sewed-on pink mustaches — and three care boxes brimming with essential items, everything from toothpaste to blankets.
But the team’s journey didn’t stop there. As they were finishing up, they met a woman and her three daughters, who'd brought food for the homeless. In true Lyft fashion, the drivers were more than happy to pitch in, preparing and passing out the dishes — and even wrapping up the day with a friendly group clean-up.
Michelle, one of the event coordinators, reflects on the day:
This is only the beginning of our attempt to educate and facilitate more wonderful acts of kindness in Silicon Valley. Start by offering a smile to a stranger, and the rewards will be endless.
These drivers are inspiring examples of the greater Lyft movement, showing their cities a spirit of generosity that extends beyond the confines of the car.
