It's official: We made it to Austin! As the first rideshare company to take on the Texas capital, we're already growing as fast as the city itself, proving Lyft is just what the neighborhood needed. We couldn't be prouder to be a part of such a vibrant community.
Free Rides for All
A proper kickoff was in order before our traditional ’stache parade around town. Austinites headed to local hotspot Bungalow to welcome Lyft's arrival, meet their founding drivers, and become official Lyft Pioneers.
The Festivities Continue
Founding drivers got together for some food in the park and an infinite fistbump to celebrate our debut in the 512.
Meet the N00bs
Curious who's driving this people-powered movement? Here are some of the faces behind the wheel:
As the Executive Chef at Cru Wine Bar, Matt slides out of Driver Mode and into the kitchen after a night sharing the ride.
You can find Jasmine on stage at the Corpus Christi and Victoria symphonies — when she's not bumping fists, she's a pro flutist!
Joyce joins the Lyft family as a student pursuing her Master's Degree in biological sciences.
Fun Facts About Austin
Austin is considered the live music capital of the world, with more than 100 music venues in city limits. It ranks first in Texas and sixth in the U.S. in terms of musicians and artists per capita. No big deal.
A-Town has about 19 million visitors a year — that's more than the Eiffel Tower, Niagara Falls, and even Disneyland!
The city is considered home to North America's largest urban bat population. BatLyft, anyone?
Nicknames include Silicon Hills, Bat City (see fact above), River City, and City of the Violet Crown.
We're so excited to finally see the rideshare movement spread to a city as progressive as Austin. Tune in Friday to see where the people take us next!
